TT Guide3-Day Itinerary

3 days
in Taormina

A realistic pace for your first visit — the historic centre, a beach day, and one unforgettable day trip.

How to use this itinerary

Three days is enough to see Taormina properly without rushing — the historic centre, the beach, and one day trip further afield. This isn't a minute-by-minute schedule; it's a realistic pace built around how the town actually flows, drawn from our full guides on things to do, where to eat and the beaches.

Day 1 — The historic centre

Morning: Start at the Ancient Theatre before the heat and tour groups arrive. Entry is around €14, and the Etna backdrop is worth the early start.

Midday: Walk Corso Umberto, stopping at Piazza IX Aprile for the sea view, and grab granita and brioche for a late breakfast.

Afternoon: Browse the boutiques and side streets, then rest before dinner.

Evening: Dinner at a classic trattoria — see our restaurant guide for picks.

Day 2 — Beach day at Isola Bella

Morning: Take the Funivia cable car down to Isola Bella early to get a good spot on the free section, or book a lido if you want sunbeds.

Afternoon: Swim, relax, and grab lunch at one of the beachfront spots. Bring water shoes — the beach is pebble, not sand.

Evening: Head back up to town for aperitivo with a view, then dinner.

Day 3 — A day trip

Practical tips for your 3 days

Pack light shoes for walking — Taormina's centre is largely pedestrian with some steps and slopes. Book dinner ahead in high season. Check the events calendar before you go — see our 2026 events guide in case a concert at the Ancient Theatre lines up with your visit.

Frequently asked questions

Is 3 days enough for Taormina?
Yes — three days comfortably covers the Ancient Theatre, Corso Umberto, a beach day at Isola Bella, and one day trip to Etna, Castelmola or the Godfather villages.
What is the best order to see Taormina's sights?
Start with the Ancient Theatre early in the day to avoid crowds and heat, save the beach for a full dedicated day, and use your last day for a day trip further afield.
Can you do Mount Etna and Isola Bella in the same trip?
Yes, but not the same day comfortably — each deserves its own half or full day given travel time and the different pace of each activity.
Do I need to rent a car for this itinerary?
No. The Funivia cable car, Interbus routes and walking cover everything in this itinerary without needing a car.
